Partnering with DELREC (Delaware Law Related Education Center) we have developed a Wrongful Conviction workshop for high school social studies classrooms.
How does the program work?
Innocence Project Delaware staff members come into social studies classrooms for one class and teach a workshop on wrongful conviction
Teachers get a break for one class period! They may stay and observe, but are not expected to teach during this time.
We give students facts from a real Delaware homicide case (from Wilmington, 1991)
Students present evidence-based arguments for innocence or guilt
Students learn about factors that contribute to wrongful convictions
Students learn how Innocence Project Delaware works to address wrongful convictions
